As an enthusiastic Welsh-speaking newly qualified teacher, with experience developing and teaching lessons for the new curriculum.

I am currently completing my NQT year at St David’s Roman Catholic Primary School, where I have had the opportunity to teach a Year 2 class. This experience has afforded me the opportunity to teach amidst the implementation of the new curriculum for Wales. This has called for me to be adaptable, innovative and inclusive. Within my classroom I have ensured that I have created an environment in which every child feels valued, empowered and has the opportunity to reach their full potential. I have used a plethora of teaching approaches throughout, which I have found through observations and research including blended teaching and the use of real-life authentic contexts. I am able to provide appropriate levels of scaffolding and activity extensions, catering to varied abilities. This has required me to use my imagination and communication skills to ensure all pupils are able to access the curriculum, yet be challenged to achieve their potential.
