Maths/Further Maths Tutor from the University of Cambridge (GCSE and A-level)

Hi! I am a fourth-year engineering student at the University of Cambridge, with an A* in both Maths and Further Maths A-levels, and a First Class in my second and third-year university exams. I have experience tutoring maths and am truly enthusiastic about assisting students in overcoming their challenges and enhancing their strengths.

I strongly believe that building a strong teacher-student relationship is vital for effective learning, allowing the student to be more comfortable and confident in lessons. This means that we can identify areas of weakness more efficiently, and improve on them effectively.

My lesson format involves identifying a particular topic to work on, teaching that topic while resolving any queries that the student may have, and then going through some practice questions on the topic to solidify the student's understanding. The topic we cover may be suggested by the student if they have something specific they would like to cover, or it may be based on a weakness that we have previously identified. I am particularly interested in hearing the student's thought processes as they approach and tackle a question, as being able to clearly explain what they are doing is indicative of a good understanding! Even if the student is completely confident on the questions, I will still point out alternative methods or different ways of thinking about the content, to help achieve a broader understanding of the topic.

I also find that revisiting previously covered topics is vital to ensure that they have been fully understood and internalised, as it is often difficult to remember a particular method if it has only been covered once.
