Advert description
I have an A* Grade in A-level Mathematics alongside A's in Chemistry and Physics, 9 GCSEs including a grade 8 in Maths and Physics. Tutoring kids across all types of backgrounds and abilities to help them reach the collective goal of success.
From 9 up to 18 years old, I've been taught by a multitude of private tutors; some who were absolutely exceptional, others who didn't quite do the job as well, and from all this experience I am able to craft a teaching style that is close to perfect, where the student stays engaged for the lesson duration, regular examinations and weekly homework tasks to complete.
In addition, I have tutored children of family friends as a way to gain experience, having made a large impact on their grades. For example, taking a grade 5 student to a 7 in the span of 4 months
My teaching format during lessons is as follows:
Before lessons begin, a meeting with parents is undertaken to get an understanding of the current ability of the student. Following the meeting, a baseline test is set to know the strong and weak points for which will be taught in lessons.
1. Teach necessary content to a standard where the student understands completely
2. Completed written example answers completed together to familiarise the student
3. Range of questions is set for the student to complete on their own then marked and gone through together, this step is repeated until the student is confident in answering questions
4. Homework for the week is set at the end of the lesson and is due 2 days before the lesson the following week. Homework for the previous week is discussed together, and we will go through the corrections that I made and if necessary, redo some of the questions together.
5. After a module/topic is completed, a timed 1-hour exam tailored to that topic will be set. In the following lesson, we will go through the paper together and solve any uncertainties within.
Please note: exam papers are hand-crafted using exam-style questions suited specifically to the student in order to maximise their rate of improvement
Parents/Guardians will be kept strongly in the loop and will have a vivid understanding of how the student is progressing.
Primary school students - £20/hour
Secondary and GCSE students - £27/hour
I look forward to hearing from you and giving your child the required support they need to succeed in their exams
