I have an interdisciplinary educational background from a Bachelor’s degree to a doctoral degree in the United Kingdom focusing on interpreting and translation, TESOL, linguistics, and second language acquisition, and have been tutoring for more than 2 years. I possess a deep understanding of Chinese culture and language nuances, allowing me to impart not only linguistic knowledge but also valuable insights into the rich heritage of China. My approach to teaching centres around fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, where students feel comfortable to express themselves and develop their language skills with confidence. My lessons will be engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the individual needs and proficiency levels of your students. I will leverage digital tools and resources to create a dynamic learning experience, fostering a supportive and inclusive virtual classroom environment. For lesson materials, I will provide (1)online interactive lessons with multimedia content, (2) digital flashcards for vocabulary practice, (3) audio resources for listening exercises, (4) texts and reading materials in simplified Chinese characters, and (5) cultural videos and documentaries to provide cultural context. Based on the knowledge of vocabulary, sentence structures, grammar, and Chinese phonetics for accurate pronunciation, I will also set diverse themes for each lesson and use social media as a teaching tool to help students build confidence in using Chinese in real-life scenarios.
