Online Chinese Tutor - Part Time TC Learning Coventry CV1 Remote

Advert description
Dear Hiring Manager,
I am writing to apply for the position of Online Chinese Tutor at TC Learning. I am a highly qualified and experienced teacher, having received my PhD in English and Comparative Literary Studies in 2020 from the University of Warwick, where I also acquired an MA in English Literature in 2015. While completing my PhD, I taught English literature courses at Warwick, including Modern World Literatures and Modes of Reading. I also achieved the status of Associate Fellow of the British Higher Education Academy in 2019, which attests to my high-level teaching abilities.
In addition to my teaching experience, I have extensive experience working with international students and facilitating cross-cultural communication. I worked as an international student representative at Warwick and served as the chair of the Postgraduate-Staff Liaison committee, where I provided pastoral care and support to students who may experience cultural shock, alienation, and language difficulties while studying in a foreign country. I also have experience teaching Public English, a general education course aimed at non-English majors to help them improve their English language skills, especially in academic writing and oral expression.
As a native Chinese speaker with a Putonghua test certificate in Grade 1B, I am fluent in written and oral Chinese. I have experience teaching IELTS reading and writing for students in China, and my skill in reading Classical Chinese will be an asset in providing professional translation for students working on Classical Chinese texts. I have also worked as a PhD application advisor for Chinese students who wish to apply for doctoral programmes in Humanities at institutions in Anglophone countries via online teaching.
My teaching pedagogy involves creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment, where students feel comfortable sharing their perspectives and asking questions. I design activities that encourage critical thinking, discussion, and collaboration. Additionally, I provide clear feedback and constructive criticism to help students improve their language skills and achieve their goals.
I am confident that my experience, skills, and enthusiasm make me an excellent candidate for this position. I am available for an interview via video call at your convenience. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely yours,
