As my experience when I was teaching Korean to one of my foreign friend, I helped him by recommending Chess YouTube channels from Korea, since he was into chess game, and reading Korean literature together and sharing thoughts because he majored in literature, and it could enhance his desire to study a lot. I can teach students with films I majored in, and also Korean textbooks if the student wants.
I want to teach students with focusing on real and practical speaking that Koreans use in daily life, not only from Korean textbook. This was the most told by a lot of foreign friends as a downside of studying with only textbooks because they do not usually use in their daily lives what they learned from textbooks. I would like to utilize many materials such as interesting videos and literature to differentiate myself from Korean classes taught through textbooks at schools and academies.
As a person who learned English, I think it is best to listen and speak as much as possible when learning a foreign language even if it is not perfectly correct. I would like to guide students on how to expose themselves to Korean as much as possible in a suitable environment. Just as I was able to learn English quickly, I will share many tips that I used.
My class will cover not only language but also cultural aspects through Korean news, and it will help students to understand how Korean is different from their language, so they will do well when meeting Koreans or living in Korea.
