Hello all French students!
It would be my pleasure to help you grow your confidence with French while keeping your personal aims in mind every step of the way.
In my classes, my aim is to let the student's individual goals and experiences guide my teaching approach and methodology. This means knowing if there is a concrete final aim (let's say, a grade 7 at GCSE) and how to get there, as well as understanding what the student responds well to. If you're a nervous speaker, we'll have some chill but varied conversations to build your confidence. If it's grammar that's tripping you up, I'll demonstrate the rule using some examples and then give you the space to give it a go yourself.
I firmly believe that people learn best when they're motivated and at ease. That's why I make sure to stay adaptable and approachable so we can get the most out of each session. I'm currently offering lessons that last from 45 minutes up to two hours, depending on what your aims are.
Some more about me: My name is Sarah and I'm currently studying Modern and Medieval Languages at the University of Cambridge. I've just finished my third year have achieved excellent marks in French grammar, translation, and literature.
I've just come back from my year abroad based in Paris, where I both interned in a French-language office and worked as a teacher in a primary school in the suburbs of Paris. I have also lived in a small on my gap year with a French family, working as an au pair and attending language classes (aimed at C1 French speakers) at a local school.
I have a grade A in French A-Level (AQA) and A* in French GCSE (old specification).
I have extensive language tutoring experience, including a tutoring a GCSE (new specification) student so that she attained the grade she wanted, helping younger Cambridge language applicants with successful applications, and teaching classes of up to 34 students on my year abroad. So don't worry, I know what it's like to struggle with a language and have definitely seen and experienced both sides of this!
If you're interested in learning more, I'd love to get in touch with you. Bon courage à tous et à toutes!
