When I teach, I want to make sure that my students do more than just take quizzes and exams. I realize that those metrics are important in terms of assessing if they have retained information, so I also use case studies and group work/discussions to measure learning. However, I feel it is just as important to give them the practical experience and show them how to apply what they have learned in their books to what actually happens in the “real” work world.
