Advert description
I am a UK qualified science teacher who currently teach science to Ks3 and Ks4 students at a secondary school. I have over 20 years of experience teaching science and have inspired hundreds of students to develop a deep love for science and to even achieve above their target grades at both the Ks3 and Ks4 levels.
One of the highlights of my teaching career was teaching a student named Aashvi (not her real name). Aashvi wanted to become a doctor, but she was in the lowest set for science, which meant that she would not get the required grade to study science at sixth form. She had a great attitude to her learning, and after completing the foundation mock exams for science, I realised that Aashvi was capable of doing the higher paper, so I recommended that she did the higher paper. The only problem was, there was only about 3 months left for the beginning of the GCSE exams, and Aashvi had not done any of the higher GCSE science content, so while teaching the foundation science content to the rest of the class, I had to differentiate the work for Aashvi, and gave her one to one tutoring. Aashvi had lots of catching up to do, but she was determined to cover all the higher content in preparation for her GCSE exams.
On results day, Aashvi emailed me on my work email in great delight; thanking me for helping her to receive a 99 in combined science. I was overwhelmed with joy for Aashvi. She went on to do science at A levels, and subsequently went on to medical school to fulfil her dream of becoming a doctor.
With good tutoring and a positive attitude to learning, any student is capable of achieving his or her target in science. I have seen this happened many times with my students.
As a teacher, I always aim to make my lessons engaging, and tailored to the needs of my students. Based on my many years of experience, I have realised that giving students opportunities to answer exam questions and teaching students exam techniques, are vital to their success. I also found that using interleaving, retrieval practice and space practice are great strategies that boost students. memory
I have a sound knowledge of the UK science curriculum, and I have experience teaching science from the OCR, Edexcel and AQA exam boards.
I look forward to helping you achieving your target in science.
