Online Primary School Maths Tutor

I'm an Outstanding teacher who led Maths at a large international Primary School for six years before moving back to London this year. With almost twenty years classroom experience teaching in Outstanding schools in London, Singapore and Dubai (all delivering the UK Curriculum), I foster a genuine love of learning among students. My fun tutoring lessons are aimed at ensuring high levels of progress with a focus on fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills within Maths. Throughout my career I have vast experience stretching high ability students and scaffolding learning for children who require extra support. My classroom experience ranges from Year 2 through to Year 8 and as a tutor I currently teach children between six and thirteen years old.

With experience of delivering daily online lessons to a full class of Year 6 children during the pandemic, I am extremely confident and competent with the skills required for highly effective tutoring online.

For the children I tutor already, I agree with their parents the topic and objectives to be taught depending on the needs of the child. These topics are all taught in line with the National Curriculum expectations. I share the activity with parents beforehand so the child has a paper copy of the activities and questions for the lesson. A slideshow with each question on its own slide is then ready to be displayed during the lesson which allows discussion, further questioning and for me to model alternative strategies for further teaching. Throughout lessons, I play games and challenges with children to help maintain focus and provide exposure to a variety of problem-solving strategies.

Depending on your child's understanding of an objective, we might spend more time on the fluency questions if support is needed, whereas if your child is secure with the objective we might move straight to the reasoning and problem-solving questions which will develop a deeper level understanding. Some children I teach can work through three objectives in one lesson which is the equivalent of three lessons in school.
