Maths and Physics have always been my best subjects. I was able to achieve a Grade 9 in GCSE Maths and a Grade 8 in GCSE Physics. Due to this, I was encouraged to pursue a future in Physics, as I had always found it interesting. In my A-Level exams, I managed to get an A* in Maths and Further Maths and an A in Physics. I am now attending the University of Southampton where I am doing an integrated Master’s degree in Physics with Astronomy and will hopefully do a PhD in the future. During my time in secondary school and Sixth Form, I took part in the UKMT Maths Challenges, in which I mostly won the titles Best in Year and Best in School. Also in Sixth Form, I volunteered to tutor Year 7 students in Maths for one morning a week. They were provided an exercise book to do Maths work in. My method of helping them was to let them start on it by themselves and then give them hints if they struggled.
This is will be my preferred way of helping GCSE students. I will be using practice questions, as this was my best way of revising for exams. My students can bring any questions that they want me to help them in or they can ask me to give them questions that we can go over together. I can also give harder questions to challenge the students more which can help them be more prepared.
