Advert description
I am a 1st year Mechanical engineering student at the University of Southampton with 2 years of experience in tutoring students in maths and science. I am looking to try and offer students the additional support they may need to fulfil their potential and achieve the highest grade possible.
I am available to teach Maths, Chemistry and Physics at any level up to and including AS Level. I am also an avid believer in nurturing a student's curiosity about the subjects and am more than happy to allocate additional time after each session to talk about interesting developments in a subject, things that interest the student and some of my own experiences as an engineering student.
In terms of my teaching approach, I believe that working through example problems together to highlight the foundations of each topic (as well as specifically why something is done) is the most successful approach. I try to make it clear that students should not be afraid to ask questions, no matter how simple or silly they may seem, after all that is how many of us learnt as children. A typical lesson would start with deciding the content to focus on for the session and answering any questions that the students may have about it, before working through a range of exercises to test the student's knowledge of the topic and to try and fill any holes. After a session, should the student request, I will send over practice problems that specifically target any weaknesses or key points identified in the session, which we will go through briefly the following week, or feedback may alternatively be sent back online.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as possible.
