Hi! I am Ishir and I am currently studying medicine at Imperial College London - I received 3 A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A-Level and all 9s at GCSE ; I specialise in Maths, Biology and Chemistry (up yo an A-Level standard) - however I have taught KS3 Science and GCSE Physics before.
The format I use is :
1) Recap - integrated and interwoven ; laying down the foundation of content/knowledge - this is all very interactive and will be done by usually creating a mind map using a whiteboard (online) - I also require the student to be doing active revision as we go along ; this could be blurting or creating their own flashcards.
2) Content - using the whiteboard, videos (very visual) and tutorials online the content will be repeatedly learnt and revised until they can blurt it all on an empty A4 paper.
3) Application - the most important part - this will also include their homework - APPLYING THEIR UNDERSTANDING TO UNKNOWN EXAM SCENARIOS WITH A FOCUS ON EXAM TECHNIQUE TO ENSURE NO EASY MARKS ARE LOST AND ANSWERS ARE STRUCTURED CORRECTLY TO TICK ALL CRITERIA
Lessons will be created from the specification and textbooks can be used for content along with notes..
My lessons are all centred around engagement and work dependent on how willing the student is to actively revise and understand the content before actually applying their understanding - they cannot simply do questions with answers on the other side.
