I lived in Hong Kong for three years where I completed the CertTESOL qualification in the teaching of 'English for speakers of other languages' by Trinity College London.

There I taught school children and adults from Hong Kong and adult asylum seekers from all around the world.

A little about me...
I studied law at university and have always loved and excelled at the English language.

I then spent many years delivering training to doctors and nurses in hospitals. They were time poor and needed to know how to safely use life-saving equipment.

Every day was a new hospital, a new set of learners and so I had to be agile and confident in communicating in a variety of styles to get people's attention and make sure they remembered the important bits.

I am a passionate and friendly person who enjoys trying to help people and I don't get stressed in a learning environment - it is important to trust and feel supported when you are learning a language and I will do my very best to support you in any way I can.

I also work as a writer and copywriter and have done for many years. I have worked freelance and for a big cosmetics brand and so I have an eye for detail when it comes language, sentence structure, clarity and meaning. I know what's important when you are trying to get your point across and can explain the tips and tricks of the English language.

I also spent time living in Asia where I worked as a teacher of English and as a writer and editor. I have proofread and edited non-native English speakers writing and know how understand what writers are trying to say even when their words are hard to work out.

I know how to simplify and extract the meaning from the difficulty of words, rules and grammar. I know how hard it is to speak and work in a different language to the one you speak and think in every day. I understand the effort required and will be a there to support and help you at every step of the way.
