My name is Rachel, a qualified Primary School Teacher currently working as a supply.
Before I became a teacher, I worked in the NHS as a bank nursing assistant whilst I raised my little ones. Then I enrolled in an Access to Higher Education course, leading me to Bath Spa University where I proudly qualified as a mature student.
I enjoy working with children to make them reach their full potential. My experience includes working with children whose English is their 2nd or third language. I use colourful semantics as a way of helping children build their vocabulary as well as phonics to help them learn to read. In addition, I help them learn mathematics using conceptual understanding like visual, schema approach and understanding of the mathematical vocabulary.
Because of my background as a mother, I’m very aware of the stresses both parents and children face regarding learning. My objective as a tutor is to assist by helping children learn and make it a rewarding and enjoyable experience as much as possible. I try to look out for the gaps in the child’s understanding and use different approaches. My lessons are individualised to gain pupils' trust and confidence.
