I have a BA Hons Degree in Youth Work & Theology, and I have worked with children and young people for the past 16 years. Over the last decade I have worked in an educational capacity, as an SEN assistant, an LSA, an HLTA and as a teacher. I now work fully remotely as a tutor, offering classes across key stages 1-4. I have a passion for helping students from all walks of life achieve their very best, and I enjoy the creative challenges that come from finding new ways to teach students according to their needs and abilities. I am very open and friendly, and believe that good teaching starts with a positive rapour between tutor and student. I welcome students of all abilities, including those who have Special Educational Needs, as well as students with ADHD and/or ASD.
I offer the following English classes:
- KS1: Phonics, Sound Blending, Digraphs & Trigraphs, Consonants & Vowels, Sight Words, Rhyming, Spelling, Fiction & Non Fiction, Sentence Structure, Handwriting, Capitalisation and Punctuation.
- KS2: Reading Comprehension, Spelling, Handwriting, Creative Writing & Story Elements, Identifying Writing Styles & Structure, Description and Editing, Different Tenses, 1st & 3rd Person, Vocabulary, Grammar and Punctuation.
- KS3: Comprehension, Writing Structure, Analysing Literature, Purpose & Tone, Creative Techniques, Editing Skills, Building an Argument, Facts vs. Opinions, Plagiarism, Vocabulary & Context, Referencing Skills.
- KS4: Writing Purpose and Tone, Structuring an Argument, Developing Ideas, Formal & Informal Writing, Facts & Opinions, Active & Passive Voices, Identifying Narratives, Essay Skills, Sourcing & Referencing, Historical Texts, Pre & Post War Novels, Poetry and Shakespeare.
