-*KS3/ KS4 ENGLISH SPECIALIST*
Hi, I'm Jack. I studied a Masters Degree in English Literature at the University of Glasgow and studied did a P.G.D.E in English teaching at Canterbury Christ Church University. I have 5+ years of experience teaching English at secondary schools in East Sussex. I have held senior posts at two schools as Assistant Head of English, and I was once an Oracy Lead.
I have a strong track record of supporting students through their GCSE English Literature and Language, and have supported 4 classes of pupils through their GCSE journey from Year 10 to Year 11 since 2019. I am proud to have helped these students achieve the grades they deserved, unlocking their future paths in education and beyond. I have had particular success in supporting students to catch up on gaps in their knowledge, or understanding of key skills, where there is concern around progress.
I am happy to support your English studies in whatever way you need. I am experienced in planning bespoke lessons for students and skilled in providing you with the detailed feedback you require to make progress. Our sessions will be engaging, interactive and purposeful, and will make use of pedagogical strategies old and new.
I am happy to schedule lessons around your needs, and can offer a fair amount of flexibility.
I hold an enhanced DBS certificate and have extensive and up-to-date safe guarding training in line with the standards set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education.
I'm also a keen musician who plays in a bunch of bands, and a big football fan. Tutoring is often about rapport, so I hope I'll get to hear about what your interests are outside of your studies too. I look forward to getting to know you and supporting your learning in a fun, flexible, and worthwhile manner.
All the best,
Jack.
