Maths tutor (Primary to GCSE level and exam preparation)

Advert description
Dear Students & Parents

I have worked as a secondary school teacher for over thirty years. I have taught in different schools to a wide range of students of all abilities. I believe that everyone can succeed and improve their ability at Mathematics. The key is high quality teaching and lots of practice and consolidation to retain new skills.

I am able to present the subject in a clear and understandable way, so that concepts that appear abstract and hard to understand become clear and have purpose. Working as a tutor enables a very strong and positive experience of the subject to develop. Sitting in a large class and receiving very little individual help can lead to students finding the subject hard to access. My help will make a significant difference and enable the learner to progress and really grow in confidence.

During my career I have been a Head of Mathematics twice and also an examination board marker and coursework moderator. I am a registered Open University tutor, and been involved in helping students with their teacher training as a mentor. I am now retired and hence have the time to do tuition. As a side note, I tutored all three of my children at home and they all passed their 11 plus exams with high marks. I enjoyed this process a lot and the benefits of passing are clear.

Contact me to discuss your exact requirements. I would prefer to do tuition face-to-face as the learning is more powerful. I am quite flexible with times, however it is better not to leave this until late in the day as students can become tired. I am focussing on helping up to GCSE, which I am expert on. In order to have to best effect it is helpful to start sooner rather than later as Maths is not as subject that you can learn very quickly, especially if you are at the stage where you are finding the subject challenging.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Mr Julian Evans
M.A. in Mathematics Education, London.
