Experienced Singing tutor

I am a qualified singing lecturer, currently head of musical theatre at the Colchester Institute. I have been teaching singing for over twenty years on a freelance basis also.
I can coach for exams, auditions or simply work on vocal goals.

I am one of the few certified master teachers of Estill Voice Training in the UK and this work has been an invaluable tool to have as a teacher. Estill Voice training is not a method or a technique, nor a way of teaching but goes into great depth into how all the structures of the voice work together to create different voice qualities. There is no aesthetic bias and works well in an educational setting where different musical styles will be covered. I can also identify vocal issues because of this training and coach accordingly. Being an EMT (Estill Master Trainer), has opened a wealth of opportunities including coaching professional West End performers, Musical Directors and SLP’s on Estill Courses nationally and internationally.
I have also lectured at the Urdang Academy in London as a singing and voice teacher and I was lucky enough to have the opportunity a few years ago of teaching singing to students in Venice (Universita IUAV di Venezia) a spart of the Erasmus programme.


My background is as a professional performer. I trained at Mountview Theatre School on the 3 year Acting and Musical Theatre Course and graduated in 1996. I immediately gained work in the West End, starting as a Swing in a two-year run in the musical Oliver at The London Palladium directed by Sam Mendes. I also worked on Showboat and Oklahoma. I then spent a few years as a production singer, assistant cruise director and headliner for Celebrity Cruises and the Yachts of Seabourn.
I run a community choir in Battlesbridge, Essex and also run a singing holiday retreat in France every Summer.
