Advert description
I am currently taking a gap year, before studying English Literature and Theatre Studies as a joint major at Lancaster University. During Sixth Form, I volunteered a lot in English and Drama classes, learning and gaining experience in tutoring and how best to support students. When tutoring, I would aim to first set up a plan of goals, as well as explore the students' strengths and weaknesses in the subject. Following on from this, I would delve closer into the subjects and chosen areas that the students wished to work on in a fun and enjoyable manner, making sure to incorporate lots of exam technique into the sessions, to make sure that the students feel ready and confident for their exams (be it at GCSE or A Level). I would also help students to create revision resources, and find what works for them, such as mind maps (for example to use in English to explore different themes of the novel/play that they are studying), revision cards (which are particularly helpful to remember quotations), as well as fun activities such as creating a presentation of key themes/ideas/historical contexts of whatever they are studying, which can be used as a revision resource but is more stimulating that simply reading notes.
For Drama GCSE or A Level, I would also be able to help with the practical coursework, whether it is writing the logbook (for example ways to structure it, and analyse some good examples as inspiration), but I would also be able to help with the performance. For my A Levels, I studied Stanislavski in a lot of depth, and would be able to help students with naturalistic monologues in a lot of detail. I also attended various workshops, such as Frantic Assembly and musical theatre workshops hosted by Delfont Mackintosh, so if you are more interested in physical theatre and less naturalistic styles, I would also be able to advise and help you with this.
