I would describe myself as creative, diplomatic, analytical and outgoing.
My lessons would be aimed at anyone who would describe themselves as curious, openminded and willing to learn.
Advert description
From the very start I would like to make everyone comfortable to admit when they don't know or understand something.
It’s easier to personalize a teaching session for smaller groups because it allows me to give more individual attention for each student. If a class is too big I believe it’s more productive to separate it into groups of ideally up to 15 people.
I would start with sending an email to all of the applicants prior to the first class with questions to identify:
- demographics, such as age and nationality (allowing to identify technological expertise and potential linguistic difficulties )
- how advanced or familiar students are with the language (to determine who needs more attention and potentially separate groups per level of difficulty)
- who would they be speaking Portuguese with. (this matters because Portuguese is a diverse language with many accents, slangs and expressions spreading globally)
I would address the following linguistic domains as class subjects in this exact order:
1. Vocabulary
2. Grammar
3. Phonetics
4. Morphology
5. Syntax
6. Semantics
As a final evaluation, I would suggest a creative writing exercise to allow students to imagine themselves having a conversation with a Portuguese:
- colleague/ client at work
- fictional/ historical character
or
- loved one
Finally, I would do a one-on-one VIVA to provide mutual feedback.
