English maths, writing, reading to children and teenagers.

Hello there, I like to adapt my lessons as per the pupil so that their needs and way of learning is met.

For example, I can use videos, PowerPoint presentations, games and worksheets to enable the pupil to learn and be engaged in the lesson.

I give feedback to the parents and always have a plan in place of where the lesson will move onto and the next steps required in the child's progress. This is provided verbally or by written means if requested.

My teaching methods are based on a wide range of knowledge of not only the curriculum and key stage but I use strategies and teaching units based on the needs of the child. For example, read write inc is a phonics initiative that I use for younger children that need phonics input. For older children I adapt this and use spelling bee, this is another unit that is aimed more for key stage 2 children.
In English I base sessions on a text appropriate to the age and stage of the child and from this I devise a writing and comprehension task. Again it can vary and be adapted based on the child's interests, needs and attention span.

Maths is often based on White Rose maths however I am aware and use others too that I incorporate into lessons if needed to provide variety and meet the needs of the child.

Learning is broad so I tend to be flexible in my delivery and resources. If there is a certain way a child responds then I can stick to that but in my experience the best lessons are those that are engaging, provide challenge and new ways of learning through a range of mediums and resources.
