I am a College/Sixth form student attending at Lancaster Royal Grammar school and I am studying chemistry as one of my A levels. It, along with biology, are certainly my strong points as I achieved a high grade 9 in both in my GCSE's
Advert description
I believe I am well suited for this job as I have undertaken mentoring for a year 11 student in school in chemistry for an hour a week for 3 months as part of my volunteering section for the duke of Edinburgh award, as well as having done 3 months of volunteering at ExtraCare charity shop in Preston. This provides me with a good experience of teaching as well as excellent communication skills which I believe will mould me into an excellent tutor. I have always enjoyed teaching, such as explaining difficult concepts to friends or randomly explaining topics I've learnt to my parents to help the knowledge stick and so I know I will enjoy this opportunity greatly. I will teach my mentee by giving a thorough explanation of the given topic/area, followed by testing their retention through questions I will make up and ask, and correcting any mistakes. This will ready them for the past paper questions I will provide which we will go through together. This will build a strong base for any more revision the mentee may wish to do for any future examinations. I have tried and tested this formula before on my previous in-school mentee.
