Engineering student with experience in teaching GCSE and Alevel maths

My tutoring is adjusted to each student's needs, having experience in working with 1-1 or groups of up to three students. Firstly, I consider establishing a friendly connection between student and tutor, based on respect is essential so we work together for the same goal.

I have over two years experience teaching GCSE & Alevel Maths and Science, currently studding Geotechnical Engineering and working in the industry.

A general session would comprise of the student letting me know what he did in class and what he understood from it. Let him/her teach me and assess his understanding. Then testing his knowledge with some basic and intermediate questions based on the subject. Followed by the lesson itself taught in a simple, direct manner, no bla bla and overcomplicating it. The rest of the session would then consist of working together through past paper questions depending on the exam board followed. Going through the mark scheme at the end, so the student understands how his work is marked and what s/he can do to get every point possible.

At the end, we reserve a couple of minutes for feedback, both of us talk about what went well, what could be improved, how we can work better together. Ideally, I will give the student some key exercises to practice before our next session, covering the material we did together and some extra work to be done in the free time. So the next session, would start with going through the topics not so well understood.
