History and political science tutor, with particular focus on history from the early modern period into the 20th and 21st century

Advert description
I have a Masters Degree in Politics and Policy, I work at a United Nations affiliated research institute and think tank, and work as a Social Policy Lead in addressing policy issues globally. I have previous experience as a researcher at Museum of Perth, where I was able to apply my love of history. I have extensive understanding of history, particularly political, social and cultural history, including art and literature, from the 19th and 20th centuries in particular, but also from the early modern period, or 16th century onwards. I have some knowledge of early/ancient history also. Understanding developments of civilisation, from developments of democratic process, philosophies, and political movements is my main area of expertise.

As an online tutor, I can tailor lessons to the student and their level. I have experience in delivering presentations at an advanced level, right down to training individuals in basic processes. I use a presentation and discussion format, tailored to the requirements of the student and what content is sought to be covered. This includes a PPt presentation, with diagrams to illustrate areas of history, broken up with questions and answers, followed by assigning tasks to enable greater understanding of the subject matter.

I like to make lessons extremely interesting and relevant, so actual knowledge is gained, in a way that is applicable and well rounded, and also integrated into the students understanding. Flexibility is key, with examples and discussion essential to illustrate key parts of history. It is my objective to ensure the student understand a topic based on what area of intelligence they possess and their best learning style. Be it visual, audible, kinetic or other, and what level of knowledge is required.

I begin by asking what the broad subject matter needing to be taught is, and then ask in a personalized way, what areas the student would like to feel more competent in understanding, in order to then structure presentation templates, and lessons around this.

I have experience as a research assistant and lead at a UN affiliated research institute and at a Museum, I have published papers and delivered presentations online. I also have experience as a school teacher having pursued a bachelor of Education.
