I am a final year Psychology student. This is my fifth year of studying psychology, including the A-level. Despite being new to tutoring, I am passionate about the subject and know it inside out. I am also in a unique position to advise GCSE and A-level students on how to best answer the exam questions to get a high grade. As I work hard towards the end of my degree, I am constantly immersed in the discipline and learning more about psychology every day.
As your tutor I would begin by asking what you need out of me and what areas you want to focus on. If you just need help with every topic we can organise our sessions in parallel to what you will be doing in school to ensure you fully understand each topic as they are taught, and get that extra support to reach those top marks. I will also suggest spending half of the lesson looking specifically at practice questions and getting to grips with how to write the exam in a way that best fits the specification. I want to put an emphasis on this because this is simply how students do well.
However, this structure is not set in stone. Even though I make these suggestions, I want the sessions to have a strong element of being student-led. So, if there is something you feel you need to focus on more urgently in our session then that will take priority. And as it gets closer to exam season, we may want to focus more on practice papers and really nailing your exam technique to make the exams as easy as possible for you.
