Advert description
I had my M. Phil study in the department of Microbiology in the University of Hong Kong in 2002. I finished my thesis titled ‘A Novel Gene Target for Serodiagnosis and Immunization of Aspergillus fumigatus Aspergillosis’. A. fumigatus is an infectious fungal pathogen under the supervision of Prof. K. Y. Yuen and Prof. P. C. Y. Woo.
Then, I went to the School of Biological Sciences of the University of Hong Kong in 2003 to study plant phytase until 2008. I did research on how to improve the growth of plant by transforming some bacterial phytases into the genome of model plants, Arabidopsis thaliana and Nicotiana tabacum.
I went back to the department of Microbiology of the University of Hong Kong at 2008 August. Under the supervision of Prof. K. Y. Yuen and Dr. H. Tse, I have experience in studying a number of infectious bacteria, e.g. Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyrogenes, Staphylococcus lugdunensis, Klebsiella oxytoca, Mycobacterium sp., Pseudomonas fluorescens ... etc.
I was also responsible for the co-ordination, preparation and provide basic guidance in the practical Microbiology lessons for students studying MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), Nurse, Pharmacy, Dentist and Chinese Medicine. Those lessons were aimed to provide some basic knowledge of some microbiological techniques and the properties of some infectious microbes. I purchased and prepared materials (gram stain slides, micro-organisms grown on different media, different antibiotic sensitive tests and micro-organisms biochemical tests … etc) for teaching practical lessons in the department since 2008. I was responsible for microbiology teaching practical lessons for MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery), Pharmacy, Chinese medicine, Nurse and dental students.
