I have previous experience teaching primary and GCSE students English, Mathematics and Science. For Mathematics, I would go through different exam questions and share my screen to demonstrate exactly the steps I am doing for them to see the method clearly. I would then give them exam questions to try out, and allow them as much time as they need, and also offer help and explanations whenever they are stuck. I would then go through the answers and re-explain any concepts they didn’t seem to understand. I found this an extremely useful way of teaching as it allowed me to test their learning and understanding whilst teaching them. For English, I would go through different passages with the students and allow them to identify any language devices, and offer advice on how I would analyse the passage to maximise the amount of marks they can collect in the exam. I would allow them to write exam responses and offer advice on how to improve their answers by showing the student exemplar responses and offering rough exam structures which they can follow if they struggle to structure their answers. My students saw much progress in their grades and felt that they were improving significantly in class and in their exams. I am happy to work with parents to track their child’s progress, or provide updates on how their child is doing, etc, so they may feel satisfied with the level of teaching or request anything else they believe I should do to maximise the benefits their child experiences from tutoring.
