Advert description
I have over twenty years of experience in education as a Drama Teacher and Senior Leader in British independent and International schools, including as a Deputy Headteacher Pastoral, Designated Safeguarding Lead and Headteacher. After gaining and English Degree at the University of York and going on to Drama School I went on to The Royal Central School of Speech & Drama to study for a PGCE in Drama, gaining Qualified Teacher Status. I also have a Masters in Educational Leadership.
I am skilled at working with students from ages 8 - 18 and am experienced in mentoring and coaching, specialising in pastoral care and an individualised approach.
I coach in study skills and personal development and am able to support students as they build confidence in themselves, their belief in their own potential and their understanding of how they like to work and helping them to unlock any barriers to this. I am able to support general academic progress through mentoring, as well as preparation for more specific requirements, such as assessments, auditions, public speaking, interviews and presentations.
I teach Drama/Theatre Studies and English across all age ranges including GCSE, A' Level and IB. I am registered on LAMDA’s Directory of Tutors and teach Acting to young people and adults.
I believe that sessions should be accessible, engaging and fun whilst offering well-pitched personalised challenge. They should promote curiosity and encourage students to enjoy thinking and learning for themselves whilst being well supported and inspired through individualised and creative session content and rich discussion.
I am also able to work with groups, using creative and reflective approaches to develop team building and communication skills.
