I speak passable Italian as I spent 26 years in Italy and no Arabic despite spending 4 years in Saudi Arabia! My teaching method is essentially grammar-based to give students a solid grounding in the subject. That's not to say there is no speaking, but when you make a mistake I'll pick you up on it and explain why. It's not an endless conversation for the sake of it. That is just babbling and ultimately leads nowhere. I require you to study hard and do homework assignments- not an easy ride. No pain, no gain as they say. if you don't learn, I'm not doing my job.
