Advert description
My teaching style is interactive and student-centred and varies depending on what works best for each learner. Getting to know my students as individuals is important so I can design activities that appeal to their specific learning style and interests. I particularly enjoy incorporating flashcards, props, online language games, thinking-skills starter activities, stories/literature, drama, music and TPR activities. Laughter is a key part to my lessons.
I have 18 years of experience as an educator. I studied Modern Languages at Durham University, as I have always been passionate about languages and travelling. I first trained as an English as a Second or Other Language Teacher and then as a Foreign Language Teacher (French, German and Italian) before also becoming a Learning Support Teacher/Tutor. I have taught and tutored in many countries including the UK, Thailand, Belgium, France, Italy, Malta, Morocco, Kenya, Qatar and the UAE. This includes all UK school age groups ranging from Year 1 through to Year 13. I have extensive experience of working with young learners; GCSE, IGCSE, A-level, IB and IELTs examination preparation; and of teaching English for Academic Purposes.
My hobbies and interests include conservation, cooking, nutrition, yoga, swimming, walking, kayaking, singing, dancing and watching foreign films/series. I look forward to meeting you/your child to help you achieve your goals.
