Advert description
I have been teaching for almost a decade now. During that time I have gained a lot of experience in various types of educational and training organisations. My specialism is Maths and I have taught age ranges from 11-20 in that time. I have dealt with levels as basic as number lines and using visual sums to work on addition all the way through to GCSE Higher Maths. I have taught in Further Education, Alternative Provisions for secondary aged students, Apprentice-led training organisations, a military prep college and vocational organisations. I have taught ASD and ADHD students, students who have been referred by the Youth Offending Team, students excluded from their registered school, teenagers detained under the Mental Health Act in a medium secure unit, apprentices learning a trade as well as more mainstream students.
My strengths are rapport building and communication skills, finding a way to forge a relationship with students regardless of their background or personal situation. Where I can I try to make Maths seem as straightforward as possible. I use appropriate humour in the classroom but am sensitive enough to know which students will respond to this and which ones need a more empathetic approach.
Although my specialism is Maths I have taught English up to FS Level 2 and have delivered lessons or led sessions in Employability, ICT, PSD, Science, Sports and have been involved in extra-curricular activities including football and table-tennis.
