Advert description
I am a graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield. After my bachelor’s degree, I undertook an internship with Learners First Schools Partnership Internship programme. While working at Clifton Community School as a STEM Teaching Assistant, I got the opportunity to understand the school safeguarding policy, meet with a small focus group of pupils to find out from them ‘what makes a good lesson’ and ‘what helps them to learn most effectively’, and shadowed the teachers from the science faculty. I tutored students across the science faculty thereby helping them to be prepared for their examinations. The internship also required me to build a database of behavioural management strategies that I have seen in place so far and evaluate their effectiveness. Lastly, I got the opportunity to shadow a wide range of SEND pupils and using appropriate Teaching and Learning strategies to support the pupils. Working closely with the students helped me get to know each of their individual needs and offer insight and advice to the teacher and school administration on how to best assist the students’ learning. Helping students get the most out of their education, in my opinion, is the most satisfying and significant aspect of being a teaching assistant.
