Learning History through Engaging Discussions and Project-Based Research

In a typical lesson, students are presented with a present day story about a culture, city, or event. First they research, then participate in an engaging discussion or debate about what they've learned in their research.

I have taught history, social studies, language, and other Humanities courses for over two decades. I am the best tutor because the lessons I teach are always easy going, interesting, feature lively but respectful debate, and students are always encouraged to ask questions about how this relates to their own lives and career aspirations.

My classes are funny, thought provoking, and are carried with a sense of humor and respect for all participants. We might touch on world history (Ancient Greece, Ancient India), or current events (social justice), or sports and the role of sport in modern society, or song lyrics from a playlist.

In terms of conducting class--the students lead the classes. They should be doing most of the talking, the communicating. My role is to present topics and ideas as succinctly as possible, and let the students take an active role in leading class discussions.

As a multi-lingual tutor, I can communicate with students in Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, or English my native language. I have experience teaching in universities and schools all over the world and finding bridges to communicate to students is what it's all about.

I'm fortunate enough to have real work work experience in the sports and music business as well, and this experience allows me to communicate real world insights beyond just academic exercises. My experiences working for pro sport clubs (Twins, Yankees, Dodgers in MLB) helps student communication.

Classes might be debates, research projects, group presentations, or even composing songs. I have built long life relationships with my students over my career and teaching is a passion not just a job.
