Advert description
I have been tutoring maths for 5 years, teaching students ranging from primary school to A-Level. For each student, I adapted my communication style to the unique requirements they had in order to ensure that each student was engaged with the sessions and getting the most they could out of them! I worked with a small centre working closely with disadvantaged communities of 1st and 2nd generation immigrants who needed extra support with their studies. I worked with them consistently for 2 years, helping recruit and train new tutors, as well as on and off whilst I was at university. Furthermore, I twice worked with a secondary school to support Year 11s in the lead up to their exams, both those working towards 4s and 5s as well as 8s and 9s (and inbetween).
As well as teaching the curriculum in a digestable and easy to understand way, I like to equally emphasise the skill of problem solving and critical thinking! Throughout my studies, and particularly during my law degree, I have massively utilised criticial thinking and I understand how important it is both for maths and other areas of study and life! I will work with the students to see the bigger problem that needs to be solved, understanding how to go from what they need to find and then work backwards to a solution.
