Advert description
My name is Sonia Di Fortunato, I am 26 years old and I recently graduated from
the Faculty of Development and International Cooperation at the University of
Rome La Sapienza. This Master's degree course has made me more and more
passionate about the diplomatic world, thanks to the various subjects covered
during my studies, including European Union law.In fact, during the writing of my
thesis, based on the concept of Crimmigration (Criminalisation of Immigration), I
had the opportunity to carry out in-depth research on European migration
policies; I decided to compare two situations in two EU member states, Italy and
Greece, through the analysis of detention centres for immigrants. The research
made me even more passionate about the analysis of EU law, unfortunately
highlighting the negative aspects of the migration crisis affecting Europe.
Concerning my professional experiences, I worked as an intern at the Mexican
Embassy in Rome, in the multilateral agreements section, monitoring the progress
of the various MOUs (memorandum of understanding) between the embassy and
other international bodies, and researching up-to-date data in view of the
bilateral 'meeting' between Mexico and Italy.
As for my three-year degree, obtained at the University of Macerata at the Faculty
of Humanities (Department of Translation and Interpreting), this allowed me to
learn the study of three foreign languages, Spanish, English and French (level
B2/C1), as well as an additional internship at the Italian Consulate in Las Palmas
de Gran Canaria.
Here, I was able to help Italian citizens with their applications to receive
provisional documents for travel, identity cards and passport.
My most recent work experience was as a Data Entry Administrator at the Italian
Embassy in Dublin, where I mainly dealt with AIRE registrations.
