When teaching violin, I focus not only on technical proficiency (although I teach this to a meticulous standard) but also on the importance of musical expression and engaging performance. I enjoy a large range of musical genres, and am open to teaching pieces brought to me by students, as well as providing ideas of repertoire to teach.
I have a bachelors degree in music, so have an excellent knowledge of musical theory and analysis. I teach up to grade 5 theory according to the guidelines of the ABRSM syllabus.
I can also tutor GCSE music students who would like additional help.
