Advert description
My aim as a tutor is to lighten the burden for children of studying and schoolwork. I understand that in school, children do not always understand stuff and they are often not helped as the teacher cannot cater to every student, but I aim to help children to understand every aspect of the curriculum thoroughly so that they do not struggle later on. I would always teach one or two lessons ahead of the class, and always stick to the topics that are being taught in school, so that the student isn’t being taught things that they do not need to know. I want to be able to help children to excel in school and help them form a healthy habit of studying. Regarding homework, I would not want the student to learn anything extra for homework. I would teach them the concepts in the lesson, and they would practice for homework. The lessons will be content heavy and we will get through lots of work, but I will only give a few hours of homework because I do not want to overwhelm the student. I feel that all content must be taught directly by the teacher, and not left as an independent task, which is why the lessons will mainly revolve around learning concepts rather than too much practice. I would do practice in the lessons only if the student is learning far too ahead of the class, as I do not want them to learn unnecessary things yet. I understand that young children, and children with adhd/autism can have difficulty concentrating, which is why I would provide fidget toys for students. I feel that they help significantly with concentration, so I will be able to push through more content with them. I also understand that children may not be able to cover all the content necessary, which is why I plan to plan ahead and provide leeway for lessons that haven’t been covered yet, so it does not set everything back. I am very good at connecting with children, and capturing their attention and I feel that the basis of learning is having a good relationship with your teacher. I would try to build a trust between me and the student, as over time this will mean the child is more co operative with me, and they find learning less scary and more enjoyable. I want to be able to prepare students for when they grow up and do big exams. If I help them develop a healthy habit of studying while they are young, the transition to GCSEs and a-levels will be less overwhelming for them.
