I am a private tutor with experience in teaching gcse maths students both online every week and also with in person experience as in school last year I taught yr 11 students who were in maths support as they were underperforming at the time. I like to teach by giving a thorough explanation of the basics of a topic such as formulae and methods to approach certain questions then I like to do simple questions with my student alongside them giving step by step guidance initially and then allowing them to be more independent taking a spectating approach after going through questions with them. I then continue this method of helping the student then gradually reducing my in question assistance (unless they require help and get stuck) and allow them to do the question themselves while I silently watch and stay prepared to jump in when needed to give hints as to what to do next.
