Since graduating from university, I have studied and acquired a Government Accredited TTA Level 5 Online TEFL Certificate from Ofqual, which I passed with a merit grade. This was a rigorous teaching course with over 180 hours of content which covered every aspect of language teaching, thus giving me an excellent grounding in the fundamentals of language teaching: vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar, but also vital teaching skills such as lesson planning and classroom management. I speak and write English at a very high level having studied English literature at A Level, which furthered my understanding of complex sentence structures, vocabulary, and linguistic devices, as well as acquainting me with classical poetry and Shakespearean English. On the other hand, I also have experiences which enable me to empathise with and assist learners of English: while at school I helped children with disabilities to read books and improve their English by doing voluntary one-to-one sessions with them, working on their reading comprehension ability, speed, and overall confidence. I have worked as a part-time tutor for around half a year and thus have some experience tutoring and constructing lessons for students. This has given me a solid foundation upon which to build my English teaching career. I have also worked as a private English Teacher for half a year in Japan delivering lessons to students of all ages (two to adults).
