I am a devoted teacher with 25 years of experience tutoring a wide range of ages and abilities, from young children to adults and from beginners to advanced players. My approach is one of flexibility, taking into account the aims and abilities of each individual and tailoring lessons to suit the student's needs, whether they are preparing for exams, performances or just playing as a hobby. I always strive to make lessons an enjoyable and inspiring experience.

I can prepare students for both ABRSM and Trinity College London graded exams and also offer music theory coaching for students needing to take the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory exam or those studying for GCSE or 'A'Level Music.

I also teach improvisation techniques as a doorway into exploring creative playing outside of the traditional classical method of studying. This is integrated into the firm technical foundation of my mainly classical training and can help give learners another dimension to their playing which can enrich and enliven their approach to whatever kind of repertoire they are studying.

If you live up to 15 miles or no more than 35 minutes drive from my location I can offer you lessons in the comfort of your own home. I also welcome any students who prefer to travel to me for lessons.

I can offer you the option of effective online classes no matter where you are based.
When the restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic came into place in 2020 I moved all my teaching over to online lessons as in person lessons became unviable in most situations. Since then I have gained a great deal of experience teaching remote classes and I have found them to work very well and be viable even for young children if there is parental supervision.
I can accommodate you online via Zoom, Skype or FaceTime for lessons at your convenience if travel is not practical or you simply prefer remote lessons as a safeguard against any risk of Covid transmission.
