I have face-to-face private lesson experience in my country in Biology. During my lessons, firstly I teach general knowledge about the topic, then I give some tricks or show easy reminder hints, and solve some questions about the weekly topic in addition to looking and solving questions that students could not do by him/herself. I believe every part is crucial for success.
