Advert description
Over the years, I have accumulated over three years of tutoring experience in a wide range of subjects, from ESL (English as a second language) to various International Baccalaureate subjects, including but not limited to English Literature HL, Theory of Knowledge, Psychology HL, and Mathematics Studies.
Furthermore, during my first year of university, I was selected to be a Debate Mate tutor and a regional debating judge. This involved holding group sessions for children aged between 12-15 in local schools across London over a period of 6 months, judging debating competitions, issuing individual and group feedback post-debate, and conducting mock debating competitions.
In addition, to my extensive tutoring experience, I have maintained a strong academic record throughout. From Year 7 to Year 10 I was a straight-A student and placed in the top-performing classes based on a student’s GPA.
Following this, I complete the IB (International Baccalaureate) and was awarded 41/45 IB points ranking in the top 2% of candidates taking the May 2018 finals.
At university, I achieved First Class Honours and was awarded the Media Law Prize as well as the J Wignell prize for best third-year law student.
I believe I am an outstanding tutor for a number of reasons.
Firstly, my mother runs her own successful tutoring business in Italy. I have had the privilege to learn by osmosis how to structure a content-heavy session in an engaging and interactive manner. My ethos as a tutor is that in many scenarios, how content is presented makes a difference to a student’s ability to recall information.
Secondly, whilst tutoring at Debate Mate, oftentimes the sessions would be to a class of 20-30 students, many of whom had learning disabilities. This experience taught me how to adapt teaching style to suit the class’ needs whilst also providing certain individuals with more support than others. I developed an ability to render the lesson plan engaging by using real-life examples with practical applications to foster an open and inclusive learning environment and encourage active participation.
Thirdly, my undergraduate and school performance shows that I strongly understand my subjects.
Fourthly, my strong interpersonal skills have assisted in being a sought-after tutor. Establishing a strong rapport with my students, creates a comfortable
