Advert description
I have been performing & teaching music since studying at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama from 1992-'96, where I also studied composition, jazz & contemporary music. Since trained with Community Music Ltd, later studying sound design and sound healing.
My practice has developed through experiences in concert halls as well as street performance and festivals. My teaching is informed by studies in embodiment & applied theory as well as having a strong grounding in classical music and theory. I aim to bring a practical and balanced approach to learning music with enjoyment and exploration at it's heart, also knowing that learning an instrument and mastering music-making takes hard work, patience and persistence.
I have taught music in many places and with many people including the very young & old, young teenage musicians, primary aged children, adults, actors, and those with impairments and disabilities. In London music hubs (Hackney & Tower Hamlets), Bristol (Bristol Plays Music), in workshops and privately.
I am happy to teach beginners, those studying towards an exam or audition, hobbyists or budding musicians, musicians wishing to explore improvisation or enhance their theoretical understanding.
I teach the 'Cello, general theory, musicianship & performance coaching, for however long is needed for the student to gain the ability and confidence to teach themselves and become musically self reliant.
I have 20+ years experience composing and performing music as a free-lance professional with companies including The Little Angel Theatre, The Royal Opera House (education), Absolute theatre, Norden farm Arts Centre, Low-lines podcast, White Rabbit, Monstro theatre and as a performer in festivals across the UK and Europe.
