Advert description
I'm Ananya, an ambitious undergraduate currently pursuing Cognitive Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Nottingham.
During my own educational journey, I encountered difficulties grasping certain subjects due to the teaching methods employed in school. This experience greatly impacted my interest and motivation as a student. However, I discovered my own unique learning style when studying the sciences, particularly Chemistry, and developed a profound passion for the subject. It became one of my Higher Level IB subjects and continues to be a focal point in my current degree program. I firmly believe that every student possesses their own distinct learning style, and it is essential for them to explore and embrace it in order to truly comprehend concepts and experience genuine enjoyment in their studies.
As a tutor, my sessions revolve around providing in-depth explanations of concepts while establishing meaningful connections to related topics. Drawing from my personal journey, I understand the power of connecting theoretical knowledge to real-life examples, as it solidifies understanding and enhances long-term retention. Following this approach, I guide students through a range of exam-style questions of varying difficulty levels, encouraging them to attempt them independently before offering guidance on the correct problem-solving approaches. By helping students identify and understand their mistakes, I empower them to develop effective strategies and minimize errors in future assessments. To gauge comprehension, I also encourage students to teach me the topic in simplified terms, allowing me to identify any gaps in their understanding and ensure comprehensive coverage in subsequent lessons.
While my tutoring experience may be limited, I have valuable exposure as an assistant Kumon tutor, providing support to students across various age groups for over three months. Additionally, I have recently volunteered as an English teacher to children in government public libraries and Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka, showcasing my ability to connect with diverse learners. Furthermore, my role as an activity leader at Barracudas Activity Camps has equipped me with extensive experience working with younger children. Moreover, my past sales experience has sharpened my communication skills and nurtured my ability to establish rapport with individuals from varyi
