Online Geography Tutor - Part Time

Advert description
I am an experienced tutor who specializes in helping students prepare for school admissions at various levels, such as 13+ preparation through to A-level geography and environmental sciences. Throughout my career, I have successfully guided students to get into prestigious universities like Oxford. I also have experience as a Subject Tutor at the Oxford Summer Course, where I motivated international students to pursue their academic dreams.

My teaching philosophy is all about putting the student at the centre. I focus on independent thinking and active participation, striving to create a positive and intellectually engaging learning environment where all students feel safe and motivated to participate. Drawing on my background in environmental science and geography, I excel at explaining complex ideas in a clear and engaging way. Moreover, I have experience working with students who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEN/D).

In addition to my expertise in admissions preparation, I offer tutoring in Geography and environmental sciences. I can assist students at various academic levels, from primary school to A-Levels, and even help with UCAS applications for university admissions. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree at Middlesex University in London. My academic journey includes a master's degree in Geoinformation Science and a bachelor's degree in Geography and Planning Sciences. I am dedicated to teaching and am working towards a Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training to enhance my teaching skills and knowledge.

My commitment to education goes beyond traditional tutoring. While studying, I volunteered at a local primary school, where I ran an extracurricular program called "Climate ED" and served as a Workshop Facilitator. I delivered weekly workshops on climate change and carbon footprint to students aged 7+. My focus was on active student participation and inclusivity, using student-centred teaching methods and prioritizing questioning techniques.

My ultimate goal as an educator is to empower students, helping them realize their academic potential and achieve their goals. I create personalized lesson plans for each student, adapting them as the students progress in their learning journey. I take an adaptable and student-centred approach to tutoring, emphasizing questioning techniques.
