My alevel maths tutor was a Cambridge student and his teachings has inspired me a lot. I would explain the method to the students rather than telling or just showing them the steps. I will use variety of examples to help them understand the work. When we go over certain topics I will go through exam questions and explain how to answer it on that particular topic. If student still not understood I can teach other steps to them or use more examples to help them understand the content. Once they understand the content I can guide them with exam questions. I will go over the homework given in the last lesson at the start of every lesson addressing the doubts and questions the students has. I will only move on to the next topics after I have explained and the students have understood what he found difficult with the homework based on previously lessons. Also if we finish everything before the lesson finishes I wi give the students a small quiz on today’s lesson and previous lessons to make sure they are up to date and to help them remember what they have learned. I would spend more time on the students who are finding it difficult to manage with the whole class by giving them more works or spending more time once I have explained everything to other students. I would do a survey at the end of every week asking the students what they wanted to improve and what went well or even any additional comments about the lessons and this would be done without including their names to bring more honest comments.
