Advert description
I bring extensive skills and experience in photography, visual media arts, critical studies, and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching. With an MFA from USC and a BFA in Photography, I have honed my expertise through 12 years of teaching at the college level and as a teaching artist for middle and high school students. My career includes teaching positions at institutions such as Chapman College, CSULB, and Pasadena City College, and workshops aimed at youth aged 12-24. Additionally, my work as a photo-based artist reflects a commitment to storytelling and cultural connection rooted in my upbringing in East Los Angeles.
In my teaching, I prioritize creating an inclusive, student-centered environment. I encourage critical thinking, creative exploration, and a connection between students' lived experiences and their artistic development. My approach combines technical skill-building with discussions on theory and context, fostering a supportive space for students to grow as artists and thinkers.
