Advert description
I would like to register my interest in the Italian tutor position. I just completed my PGCE in Drama at Goldsmiths, University of London. Over the course I have worked in three placements, teaching Drama as well as English for KS3/KS4/KS5 classes. I have full UK Settled Status, with a clear and current DBS certificate and Teacher Reference Number.
I have a background of more than ten years working in film and television Media and am trained-up in post-production film editing software Adobe Premiere and After Effects. I have learned Stanislavski Technique to help actors deliver better performances and have spent this year developing these skills in an embedded way in an educational context.
Re-assessing my career, post-pandemic, I felt a vocation for teaching and began to work as a Drama assistant teacher for Camden charity organization WacArts, then St. Thomas More High School, Wood Green, in support of my PGCE application.
At the former, I learned the importance of what Bruner calls scaffolding, seeing that teachers can present content in ‘crescents of complexity’ as age increases; at the latter, experience was more practical. I familiarised myself with KS3 and KS4 lesson plans, GCSE assessments and learned behaviour management techniques.
Both prepared me for the PGCE programme at Goldsmiths. During the course, I discovered practitioners like Dorothy Heathcote and Brian Way, who have proved inspirational in helping me connect dramatic devices with introspection and exploration of PSHE themes. I believe Drama can help students’ self-knowledge, self-acceptance and help them develop balance societal relationships. Additionally, I learned to connect high expectations in terms of assessment result to the delivery of a knowledge that empowers students and gives them confidence.
During my work placements, I gained experience with KS3, KS4 & KS5 classes.
