I am a qualified teacher with experience teaching KS3, 4 and 5 as well as ESOL.

I have been self-motivated, ambitious and conscientious in my approach to gaining the knowledge necessary to succeed as a reflective and responsive teacher through TES webinars, NASUWT resources collaborations, literacy seminars and CPD training sessions on a weekly basis. I undertake extensive research, study and identify key areas of change in teaching and learning, Curriculum planning, OFSTED reports and pedagogy. My ethos towards education is that students should be made aware of and be a part of their progress concerning skills as opposed to exam rote learning. Pupil Premium students and those with behavioural concerns have responded positively to this change and take more responsibility and pride for their own successes. Being able to reflect upon and develop my own practices to benefit my students through ongoing reflection and adaptation has been a vital part of my teaching career.

As an innovative teacher, I utilise my own online resources such as dual coding videos for Power and Conflict poetry, podcast episodes on thematic concepts in Shakespeare’s Macbeth and The Tempest, and paragraph writing techniques. I developed higher level resources covering Of Mice and Men, Oliver Twist and Animal Farm as part of the AQA schema. I would like to continue to contribute to a more varied and diverse range of texts and writers using my skills, knowledge and resources in these areas. To support my teaching practice and ensure accordance with current teaching approaches, I take part in weekly co-planning meetings involving assessments, feedback, collaborative marking, medium term planning on how to include modern and relevant texts as part of students’ wider knowledge (BAME, LGBT and global texts). This practice has been influential in my lesson planning and teaching style, which has become more balanced and broad, involving GCSE Board specified schema and culturally and socially diverse texts and resources. This forms part of my class materials which I share weekly with the English department as part of my CPD in English knowledge and lesson planning.
